Gil Gray grew up in southern California with an active interest in science, electronics, and ham hadio.  He was first licensed in 1958. He began working for the phone company while still a student at South Gate High School in 1961.  After graduating from college, Gil spent most of his career in telecommunications engineering. At the end of 1987 he retired from Bell Communications Research (formerly Bell Labs). He then began exploring spirituality and metaphysics. This led him to a new career as owner of a wholesale business providing products for conscious living to stores throughout the United States. In the early '90s Gil discovered New Mexico. In 2000, he and his wife, Danna Loori, moved there.
 
Gil's other interests include: RV travel, playing his five-string banjo and guitar, and creating a more autonomous life style. To this end, a 7.4 KW solar power plant is now functioning at the Gray home in Belen.  (It’s good to be selling power back to the power company).

Gil holds an Extra-class ham-radio license, is a Life Member of the American Radio Relay League, is a registered instructor with the ARRL, and chases DX on the HF bands.
