Bill Mader, K8TE, was named New Mexico’s Section Manager in May 2018, effective July 1.  He’s a former section emergency coordinator, is a member of the Sandoval County ARES, and is the current president of the Albuquerque DX Association.  Licensed since 1960,  Bill has been active in many aspects of amateur radio, with his current focus on serving all New Mexico hams, chasing DX, and contesting.  He often hits the road for hamfests/conventions from coast to coast and enjoys portable operations for state QSO parties, and especially for Field Day.
 
Bill shares his love of the hobby by giving presentations on its various technical and operational aspects across the Southwest US  at venues such as QuartzFest, Ham-Com, the International DX Convention, and the Duke City Hamfest (DCHF).  He serves on the board of directors for the DCHF and has organized and presented the hamfest's HF University, HF Academy, and Contest Academy, among many other presentations.  He often speaks at local club meetings and expects to visit many more clubs across New Mexico during his tenure as section manager.
