Restoring Great Nostalgic Radios – Bringing Boat Anchors Back To Life

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Tube-type and early transistorized equipment can provide excellent performance in your shack with a little loving care, testing, repairing, and restoring these great old radios, often found at bargain-basement prices at hamfests. We'll cover a number of troubleshooting, testing, and repair tricks you can use -- with a minimum of test equipment --  that will put the great signals from these nostalgic-era performers back on the bands.  Learn the many tricks and techniques of boat-anchor repair and restoration from a ham whose shack is filled restored Collins, Hallicrafters, National, Ten-Tec, Heathkit, and Knight equipment. An extensively illustrated PowerPoint presentation will be accompanied by actual pieces of equipment in various stages of restoration along with several restored boat anchors for you to see, touch and smell!  Yes, some troubleshooting is best done with the nose!
