Wildfires are a significant concern in the West, clear to anyone who lives here or who does not but has watched the news over the past few months. This is a four-hour National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) radio operator (RADO) class for hams (especially ARES/AuxComm), Team Rubicon, and various fire/EMS agencies). To date we have taught this class to well over 300 participants in Colorado. This class will  not qualify an individual as an NWCG wildland-fire radio operator. However it is designed to both teach the skills required and clearly illustrate the difference and RADO responsibilities compared with "ham speak", "ARES/AuxComm speak" and "public safety speak."
