A relatively new term (QST March 1971, "How’s DX," by W9BRD), Elmers seems to be fading away. A recent blog by K6BNU suggests the lack of Elmers is one of the largest factors influencing low ARRL and local club membership rates. Declining license renewals is the other rationale behind the immediate need to train [and educate] Elmers. Bill will lead a discussion on what it takes to develop an effective Elmer program. This is part of his vision as New Mexico's new Section Manager. Attend and participate so together we can keep amateur radio viable in our section and yours.
