You'll sometimes hear hams grumble: "Life's too short for QRP." After all, your radio is pumping out only 5 watts or less. I'll encourage you to see for yourself that life is too short not to operate QRP! It gives you the opportunity to build your own simple gear, either from a kit or from scratch, to get up close and personal with the principles of propagation and antenna design and construction, to operate from mountaintops, or go maritime mobile from a canoe or kayak. If is too short for QRP, then it's too short for fly-fishing, bow hunting, or any other activity where the thrill is in using the least amount of gear and a growing body of knowledge and experience to make contacts with hams worldwide.
